It was announced months ago that the new “Spider-Man” reboot would feature Andrew Garfield as Peter Parker. But which lovely young Hollywood starlet should play his love interest? According to the Hollywood Reporter, the character will not be Mary Jane Watson, who was played by Kirsten Dunst in the recent “Spider-Man” trilogy. Gwen Stacy, a character introduced in “Spider-Man 3″ and played by Bryce Dallas Howard, is still a possibility, or it could be some unknown female character.

THR revealed several names in talks for the part — Imogen Poots, Ophelia Lovibond, Lilly Collins, Teresa Palmer and Emma Roberts. Zap2it would like to offer a few casting suggestions of our own:

Rooney Mara is an unknown who isn’t doing anything right now just got cast as Lisbeth Salander in “The Girl with the Dragon Tattoo.” But we actually think her sister Kate Mara would make an excellent comic book heroine.

Other names suggested included: Dianna Agron (“Glee”), Lyndsy Fonseca (“Kick-Ass”), Chloe Moretz (“Kick-Ass”), Lucy Hale (“Pretty Little Liars”). Who do you think should play Peter Parker’s new love interest? (Source)

For those of you that pay attention to the sidebar, you probably noticed that we have a new partner.  Her name is April Bostic and she’s an author who just had her book published not long ago.  Why is she a partner of Kate Mara Fan?  Well, in her initial email to me, this is what she had to say:

My character Bridget (his love interest) was represented by Kate, and I always tell people that if my book is ever made into a film, she’s the only actress I’d want to portray her. I’m a huge fan of Kate and her work, and I think she’d be able to do my character justice if Bridget ever came to life on-screen.

I’m personally going to order her book next payday and I can’t wait to see how Kate fits the role.

On behalf of all the Kate Mara fans out there, I want to wish Kate a very happy and wonderful 26th birthday.   Maybe next year the site can run a birthday project of some kind.
